Michael O’Connell

Dive team member

Mick has been part of our dive team for approx. 7 years after a long and impressive career in the Royal Australian Army.

Talk about drive, guts and determination. Mick rose through the Army ranks and has seen, done and travelled more than you would think is humanly possible. We are proud to have him in our team.

Mick is the tall timber and the strongman of the group (and truly believes he is the better looking of the crew).

Life has been good to Mick over the last few years, not only has he joined the Nordical Underwater Inspection family, but he has found one of his own. He has settled into a new life with a stunning wife and a young son who has everyone in raptures. We reckon that’s a pretty nice reward for a man that has given so much.

Some of Mick’s qualifications are:

  • ADAS Commercial Diver
  • Construction Induction Safety Certificate
  • Confined Space Qualified
  • Height Safety Qualified
  • First Aid & Oxygen Provider CPR
  • Medium Rigid Licence
  • Underwater Photography & Video
  • Rigger

Luke Johnstone

Dive team member

Luke has been a team member with Nordical since 2013 and is a highly qualified and self motivated individual. He, along with all our team members, has partaken in our extensive induction and training program program to ensure we deliver services of the highest standards for our clients. As you can imagine, onshore diving is completely different to being an off shore diver and therefore the level of skills and wealth of knowledge it requires a Nordical dive team member to have is vast. Luke is adapting and embracing this with ease.

Some of Luke’s qualifications are;

  • ADAS Commercial Diver Part 3
  • ADAS Diver Medical Technician
  • Kirby Morgan Helmet & Band Mask Operator
  • Construction Induction Safety
  • Height Safety
  • Confined Space
  • First Aid & Oxygen Provider CPR
  • Medium Rigid Licence
  • Underwater photography
  • Underwater Video

Good things come in small packages! Luke is the pocket rocket of our team and very handy to have around when the going gets tight. He originates from King Island and as his father was in the diving industry too, he is as comfortable in the water as out of it. Since joining Nordical, Luke has already travelled extensively to interstate and some very remote locations that you would never dream a dive team to be working at. This is all part of a career that sees everyday as a different challenge and we are proud of the way Luke is adapting to it.
